USFK delivered briquettes to neighbors in need for Lunar New Year in Dongducheon
Yonhap News
30 USFK servicemembers and 30 members of the Taekwondo Supporters Association delivered briquettes to neighbors in need for Lunar New Year at Bosan-dong, Dongducheon.
Participants lined up in front of the Bosan-dong Office and delivered three thousand briquettes to 15 households for two hours.
Dongducheon City provided hot teas and gloves needed to deliver briquettes.
This is the second year for the US 2nd ID Taekwondo Supporters Association to sponsor such event.
The association was set up in 2006 with a purpose to spread the Korean culture to USFK servicemembers.
Director of the association Lee Chul-hoon said, “We suggested the event to deliver briquettes because there is a need to promote further communication and understanding of each other in Dongducheon, where we have a local characteristic of Korean and American living together.”
