UNC-KPA to hold talks at Panmunjom

Seoul, Republic of South Korea -- Representatives of the Korean People’s Army Panmunjom Mission today agreed to conduct Colonel-level meetings with United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission representatives in Panmunjom on July 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
United Nations Command representatives proposed the meeting time on July 19. Colonel- level talks are a preliminary meeting, held to discuss details of the date, agenda and protocols for General Officer Talks.
The Commander, United Nations Command, Gen. Walter L. Sharp is charged with enforcement and maintenance of the Korean Armistice Agreement. The current round of talks were originally proposed by UNC on June 26, and the first Colonel-Level meeting, in this series, took place on July 15 at Panmunjom.
